As a young conservative, tea party movement supporter, and a Cuban-American in his mid-twenties, the realities of an out of control government are all too real for Eric. His family fled Communist run Cuba in the 1950’s and 60’s in search of the freedom that so many of us take for granted. This experience has provided him with a unique perspective of the world that so many others do not have. It is a perspective driven by the hardship of his relatives and love for the opportunity to live the American Dream. Eric believes that many people are disconnected from the evil events of history. The experience of his family, in his opinion, has kept him in touch with what can happen if we don’t cherish the privileges that has made our country the most prosperous in the world.
Both sets of Eric’s grandparents immigrated from Cuba. Eric’s maternal grandparents arrived 1956 in search of a new life. His paternal grandparents came in late 1960’s after witnessing the seizure of family businesses and personal freedoms being take from their lives. Both sides of the family share deep scars due to separation from their family caused by the greed of man, whose vehicle was government control.
His conservatism was influenced not just by his family history but by the horrific days of September 11, 2001. Ground Zero was visible from his residence in New Jersey that day, “Walking home from school that day was something I will never forget. I was standing at a perfect view of where the towers used to stand, while fellow Americans cried and watched the rising smoke.” He also stated “In our area, if you didn’t know anyone involved, it was a rarity.”
Eric is self-described as a capitalist and an independent thinker. He believes that the future and well being of our country is in the hands of our young people and that it is essential that we defeat our opposition through faith in God, solid family structure, knowledge of history, presence in political activism, and most of all, truth.
Eric is a graduate of William Paterson University 08’ in Wayne, NJ: Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Along with being Co-Editor of OurLastStand.com, Eric contributes to several conservative advocacy groups.
