AKA The Generation Y Conservative
Profession: Marketing
Education: Commercial Art/Graphic Design Associates degree from Antonelli Institute in 2003. Spent two years at Lehigh Carbon Community College earning transferrable credits to go towards Marketing. Transferred to Bloomsburg University for a Bachelors in Marketing but was given the opportunity to turn my internship into a full time position at a marketing firm in Bethlehem, PA.
Interest in Politics: I would say that I was blissfully ignorant of politics until the 2004 election between George Bush and John Kerry. Even someone with a high school education in economics could figure out that Kerry was off the mark but even then I didn’t know exactly which party I belonged to. At one point I even thought that then-Senators Obama and Clinton would make great Presidential candidates. That is, until I actually started looking into things and doing research.
Politics is a drug, once you start following it, you can’t stop. There is no clear side that comes out looking like a hero that will save the Country. People have become complacent with turning a blind eye and instead resorting to voting for the “Lesser of two evils”. It sickened me to think of politics that way; I wanted someone to vote “for” not “against”.
I started my website, The Generation Y Conservative (http://chrisspoliticalthoughts.blogspot.com), back in 2008 as a means to release my steamed emotions. I was quickly picked up as a frequent blogger on Brazen Careerist and linked to on various other sites. I wrote as frequently as possible until August 2009 when I was diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer, when I took a 6-month hiatus.
In August of 2010 I jumped into conference calls with fellow Gen Y Conservatives, Eric Estevez and Jerome Hudson, and we quickly recognized the need for a unified front of Conservatism. Our websites on their own were lacking diversity and frequency in posting but together, on one site, we recognized a powerful alliance that would help inform and educate our generation and those to come. I am leaving the Generation Y Conservative website behind for the greater good on Our Last Stand.
