I saw a picture in another article today showing the difference between the GDP of the top 5 states vs. the bottom 5 states. Edward Brooks represented Liberal Massachusetts. The Union. He was not a Goldwater republican. Goldwater ran during the same time as 1964 Civil Rights act, when all the liberal republicans were following Democrat Lyndon B Jonson & the conservative racist Dixicrats had switched to Republican because Goldwater opposed the civil rights act.
